When you can't invade just one....

Barack Obama's talk of invading Pakistan under certain circumstances reminds me of the time Richard Pryor shot up his wife's car. Pryor shot out one tire of the parked car....."and that vodka I was drinking said, 'Go ahead. Shoot somethin' else.' ''

While it is true that Obama's view is more Bush Doctrine ("Get the terrorists and anybody who hides or supports the terrorists) than George Bush would be comfortable with, it seems to me that there is a whole peck of places we could turn into black glass, without first going to the one Muslim nation we know has weapons of mass destruction.

This is what happens when someone accuses a male politician of being reckless: They go ahead and prove it.

God, I sure do miss Richard Pryor! May Our Lord have mercy on his soul.

As a young kid -- and we are going back at least 30 years now -- I can remember being awakened by my parents and about a dozen other drunk adults loudly laughing their asses off while they listened to a Richard Pryor album being played on a stereo that my folks had dragged outside and placed onto our backyard patio during a Fourth of July barbecue that had, thanks to the booze, gone well into the early hours of July 5th.

As I recall, and as my brother and I listened from our bedroom window, the line that got the most laughs -- not to mention the line that shocked my young, altar boy sensibilities the most -- was when Richard, discussing some fictional character, repeatedly said, "That nigger is crazy!"

Years later, and when every rap star, wannabe and hoodlum alike was using "the N word" in every other sentence, Pryor had the sense to say that he would never again say the word "nigger" in public. At the end of his life, Pryor admitted that while he made millions using that word to both shock and entertain his fans, he now came to understand just how dehumanizing that word was and is.

It takes balls to admit that you were wrong. It takes courage to urge others to learn from your mistakes -- particularly when those mistakes made you both rich and famous, and when those you are preaching to are young, poor and, above all else, hungry for the very breaks that you not only received but exploited.

Again, may Our Lord have mercy on your soul, Richard. Thanks for the laughs -- and thanks, even more, for the courage of your convictions.

That Nigger's Crazy

DG, who do you think you are kidding with these "Ray" posts? Ray, much like Dracula, rarely comes out before midnight. Moreover, his ad hominem barbs -- evidence of his frustration and his intellectual bankruptcy, to be sure -- nonetheless involve considerably more skill than your "Pat's momma" or your "whatever" blog shots aimed at me could ever hope to achieve.

Get some professional, psychological help, DG. It is not healthy, much less normal, for someone to be that upset -- much less obsessed -- over that which she has read on a blog site.

I guess it is just a coincidence then, DG, that less than one hour after my last post, here you are defending yourself. This after you swore off this blog site altogether. (And if I recall correctly, back in April of this year, you also swore on this web site to ignore those posts that I made herein, only to break that vow all too quickly. So much for your promises, huh? I hope your kids learned their ethics from someone other than yourself.)

Again, DG, you aren't fooling anyone. Are you so dimwitted as to think that your readers would not notice that you didn't change your writing style so as to not end a sentence with two or three dots (...) before starting the next sentence? How about your affinity for starting a sentence with something other than a capital letter? Have you forgotten that we can view your old posts and all the evidence of your illiteracy contained therein? Are you so utterly naive to think that Reverend Riley and/or the administrators of the APP's blog sites are incapable of reading their cookies on your hard drive and/or, at the very least, comparing the IP address of your latest post with those you have previously made? Do you think for a moment that your posts on this blog cannot be traced back to a specific geographic location?

Again, get some professional help. I know you know where the American Red Cross is in Tinton Falls. Ask those folks there to refer you to a good shrink. Be honest with the doctors and get the psychological help that you so desperately need. I will keep you in my prayers.

It looks like whoever posted using my name really bamboozled 'Ol Spooky. I don't think for a minute that it was DG but Spooky's conspiratorial mind can't figure it out. Why would DG post using my name only to have to go to the effort of denying it? Easier to make up another name or just use 'anonymous' so as to stay in the shadows, eh? What would DG accomplish by posting as me? We agree on most things. Why would she try to make me look bad? Sorry, Spooks, but your conspiracy theory just doesn't cut the mustard. You've embarrassed yourself again.

More than likely it was someone who's of similar mind to Spooky.

Isn't it interesting that Spooky whines about ad hominem from me yet turns on DG and me with so much venom? Let's see:

"Ray, much like Dracula, rarely comes out before midnight."

"...evidence of his frustration and his intellectual bankruptcy..."

"Get some professional, psychological help..."

"I hope your kids learned their ethics from someone other than yourself"

"Are you so dimwitted..."

"...evidence of your illiteracy..."

"Are you so utterly naive..."

"Again, get some professional help."

"...ask those folks there to refer you to a good shrink."

"...get the psychological help that you so desperately need."

And that was just from two of his posts! What was that about the pot calling the kettle black?

The pot calling the kettle black was my post, Ray, a few posts back. And, for the record, I who may be of similar mind to pat on some occasions, did not post as Ray.

Whoever did post doesn't like the "n" word, and I don't either.

I too grew up in that world where it was said casually and even as a child I hated that word or any word to describe someone of race that was obviously negative.

I wondered why did people do that? Did it make them feel better about their own race? Whatever. It was stupid then, and it's stupid now.

DG, don't let pat egg you on. I recall someone (don't remember who) calling Ray a bully. Seems that bullying isn't only reserved for our guy Ray.

If Obama really wanted to hit terror central, he would invade Saudi Arabia instead. But too many wealthy Americans like the Bush family have personal and financial interests in that enemy, so we just pretend that it isn't financing the IED's killing our soldiers in Iraq right now and other terror acts around the globe.

It's not interesting, Ray, It's sad. And you're right. Regardless of what I believe, I shouldn't have resorted to insults and ad hominem. I shouldn't have used the language that I did. Regardless of our differences, I should have treated you and DG with respect and Christian charity. To the extent that I didn't, I apologize to the both of you.

I did not watch nor did I hear Mr. Obama make those comments involving Pakistan, and, saying we would invade "under certain circumstances" is so conveluted(sp) doublespeak...like, what does that MEAN, "under certain circumstances...can you give a "for instance"?

Like, if Pakistan wears blue and we don't like blue, then we'll invade? Or, if Pakistan stops exporting pretty clothes and scarves to the United States, then we invade?? Maybe we invade if Haley's comet appears...THAT would be "certain circumstances".

I guess when you're not President, you can say anything you want, that somewhat sounds like you're cautious, yet intelligent, and people will just eat it up.

Oh brother.
