No mercy

There are, it occurs to me, fates worse than death, and al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui seems to have earned one for himself. Maybe he was never as big a cog as he imagined himself to be in the movie that seems to be playing in his head, but he is as guilty as sin.

A divided jury has spared his life, but in doing so condemned him to living out the rest of it alone in a small box. Years and years of solitary confinement is a very real kind of deserved Hell. I trust that it will crush his spirit and ego very, very slowly.

And for those who wish him dead now, at least we know that death will claim him and, as both the New York Daily News and the New York Post pointed out this morning, Hell will still be waiting for him.

I read he will get one daily hour of "exercise" and his cell tv will have only screened religious/educational programs...I thought this was punishment/solitary confinement...why the tv at all? for that matter who cares if he gets to stretch his legs daily?poor baby, is it cruel and unusual punishment if he has to sit in his cell and go out of his mind with boredom? He'll prob get to see the new movie "united 93" on dvd soon, smirking with glee (and it will be no charge to watch it!)

" ... crush his spirit and ego very, very slowly"? My God, man, it sounds as if you want to torture him. Moussaoui is an evil dog, no doubt about it. But our society, our Constitution, and our Christian-dominant culture require humane treatment of prisoners. You of all people should know this.

I think he should be put in the general population with the really bad guys. Bet he wouldn't last 1 day before someone would find him dead. So, guess with solitary, he will be able to stay alive. May the 14 virgins get tired of waiting for him and leave.

someone said on a tv show tonite, he should be forced to have a sex change operation and parachuted amongst his "peers" in the Middle East because he will be treated worse there as a woman than as a man anywhere..even including life in prison!

ray, you are assuming he is a "man"..he is an evil being so he should not be treated equally..tired of pc society..there are exceptions to everything..he hould have been muzzled in court so he could not get in the last word to the victims' families, he loses all rights in my book..boo hoo, deal with it terrorist...

ok, i was the person who originnally wrote 'it doesnt make it right', im not sure what the guy above me is going on about.

and ray,
all men should be treated with equal respect, and even though those at Guantanamo and Abu Graib.
were treated badly, it does not make doing it to another man right.

So, Reverend Riley, the blood of Christ will keep you from the eternal flames, but yet that same blood will have no effect on ole Zacharias, should he repent and seek to become a Christian? (And how do you know that he won't someday seek to do just that?)

You ought to take a break from blogging, "Reverend," and actually read some scripture some time. Might I suggest you start with Matthew 7:21. As Christ tells us, "not everyone that cries 'Lord, Lord' will inherit the Kingdom of God." Who knows? you might see Hell before Moussaoui does.
