Mr. and Mrs. Jesus Christ?

I haven't read the DaVinci Code. And I don't plan on seeing the movie, even though it does star nice-guy Tom Hanks.

The issues are old hat to me. In seminary, we discussed the possibility that Jesus was, at one time at least, married. The Gospels are mum on that issue. Actually, the Gospels are mum on a lot of things that would interest our celebrity-driven, gossip-ridden culture. We know absolutely nothing about Jesus from the time he was 12 until he was 30.

But it would not have been unusual for a good Jewish boy like Jesus to get married. It would have been one of Joseph's fatherly responsibilities to find his son a suitable wife. Perhaps he was widowed by the time the dove settled on him there in the river Jordan. We'll never know. But even if archeologists were to find his marriage license as they were excavating the Nazareth City Hall, would it make a difference to the faith of anyone who loves and follows him?

Wouldn't bother me in the least. How about you?

If it wins an Oscar will they still thank Jesus, or would that be redundant?

If it turns out that Jesus was married it would not bother me. What bothers me is priest who do not marry and molest little boys. Perhaps it is time for church to let priest marry and stop hidding the kind of men that do this.
I myself would still love Jesus maybe even more as He would have really live the life of a mortel before God took him back. Either way would be Ok with me.

can priests then also be same sex partners? also, molesting little boys has nothing to do with being married or not ..pedophilia and marriage have no connection whatsoever! one's a sickness and the other just makes you sick!

no, priests, could obviously not become same-sex partners if marraige was allowed, as one is sanctioned by teh church while the other is not.

I was being sarcastic about the same-sex situation..and it appears to some degree, the church does sanction pedophilia because they certainly have not done much about it past 100 yrs or so!

actually, several priests have been defrocked recently, and the Times reported today that teh Vatican has taken action against Father Maciel, one of the most prominent cases of abuse by Catholic priests. like I said in another posting, try finding out a little information before making a statement, unless you want to come off looking ignorant.

that is one of several priests out of hundreds, if not thousands of priests/undocumented incidents over centuries of abuse, so plse do not call me ignorant..I read that report ,too..where were the higher-ups years ago to defrock him pre-publicity and to possibly avoid more abuse to these innocent children? business as usual, I guess..

I saw that movie. Total baloney. If anybody forms there religiuos opinion based on that type of nonsense, they should have their heads examined.

The best thing about that movie was the popcorn I ate and it's merciful ending.

a, that movie isnt supposed to be taken seriously, its a conspiracy-theory thriller
b, dg-that's right, the whole catholic church is out to get little you, they're evil. catholisism is always been about loving one another, and even if there are some within the church who do not follow that principle, that is not a reflection on the whole church. or would you be doing your stereotyping thing again?

Hey anon..I am safe because I am not a young male..once again, it is the church's leaders, their priests and some bishops even who are molesting so, once again anon. it is not stereotyping...it is factual information..and the church cover-ups all these centuries about the molestations, once again...factual..gee, now here's a thought to get anon. all worked up..I wonder how many illegal immigrant Catholic boys those priests have/are molesting? Esp. if they can't understand English and if priests not bilingual..another reason illegal immigrants need to learn English so they can tell the molesters to stop in our native language!
