What else God isn't....
Well hang the implication....let me just say it: God is not a Republican. God is not a member of the NRA.
Here are some other things God is not:
A Democrat
A member of the ACLU
A conservationist -- if there is one thing that the universe reveals about the nature of God, it is that God is profligate, creating a universe that's mostly empty space and making way too many sperm cells, not to mention cockroaches.
Actually, this list could be as long as you want it to be. By and large, God transcends categories of any sort.
But it's all right if we happen to be a member of a political party or the NRA.
(The Second Amendment , despite that muddled phrase about a "well regulated militia'' has always in our history been interpreted to mean that individuals can own guns. The First Amendment says that we can shoot our mouths off and the Second says, that except for tommy guns and bazookas, we can pretty much shoot off anything else.)
God is ineffable and inscrutable, and when it comes to interpreting his word, you pays your money and you takes your choice. I just hope people have good reasons for what they believe.

Seems funny that you even have to say that. I thought most people knew...
Can god make a rock so big that even he can't lift it?
I agree with you, but . . . The question isn't what God is, for we can neither know nor understand the nature of God. The question is what God wants us to be; a question that we must ask; a question that He answers. It's not a question of politics, as you rightly point out. It may, however, bear on "conservationism" -- that we should be good stewards of His creation and His gifts to us, however profligate we may think His generousity to be.
God is the ultimate Independent..
Also, God is not a
Jew
Protestant
Catholic
Muslim
Buddhist
And God is also not a fan of abortion, stem cell research, capital punishment, disease, war, hunger and a host of other threats to the dignity of man.
I see. God supports infanticide. Sacred Scripture says as much. Thanks for clearing that up for us, Ray. And while we are quoting Scripture, I imagine Jesus really wanted his followers to literally pluck their eyeballs out of their head should their eyes cause them to sin (Mark 9:47). Heaven knows the authors of Scripture and Jesus himself never used hyperbole to make a point, right?
Regarding the 2nd Ammendment...when the document was written, if you didn't own a gun, you were as good as dead and so you were family and children. Lest we forget...Americans, at that point in our history, hunted and killed their own food and fed it to themselves and their families. the idea that the founding fathers only intended for "a well armed militia" to have weapons is imbecilic at a galactic level.
In addition to articulating an individual right to keep and bear arms, the Second Amendment also speaks of a "well-regulated" militia. Unless the Constitution was amended this morning, it does not speak of a "well armed" militia.
God is not an Atheist but loves them anyway..
