Where is God when we need Ann Coulter Struck Dumb?

So, Ann Coulter thinks the Jews need to be "perfected'' by getting down with Jesus Christ. That's the gist of her latest contretemps, this time on an MSNBC show hosted by Donnie Deutsch.
Let's forget for a moment that if Coulter wants to hold herself out as what perfected Judaism looks like, I'm gonna convert to the Druids.
She can point to Christian Scriptures all she likes: "Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." "Go into all the world, and make disciples.'' Hey, I can quote them, too.
But those sorts of passages need to be radically reinterpreted in the light of the 20th century, when unspeakable things were done to the Jewish people, and Christians were complicit in the Holocaust no matter how you slice it.
It's an arrogance of faith and a corruption of American ideals to start talking about the conversion of the Jews.
Back in 1982, when I was a student at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, I took a course in Missions. One student asked the professor, "Shouldn't we be out prosyletizing the Jews?''
The professor answered, "We've had 2,000 years of Christian enmity toward the Jews. Maybe we should have 2,000 years of loving them before we even start to think about talking to them about Jesus.''
Amen.
In college, a professor of mine once told a class, "If you doubt that God has a special place for the Jewish people ask yourself this, 'Where the hell are the Hittites?'''
The Hittities are gone, he meant, along with the Moabites, the Amorites and a whole lot of other Hebrew Scripture "-ites.'' But Jews are still around.
Ann Coulter is an idiot. But God loves idiots, too.
I have a little trouble being quite that loving.

Oh boy, can't wait to hear Papinian a.k.a Pat weigh in with all his links. Then Ray, the atheist will weigh in with his fodder and Margaret will be whining about how all unfair to Catholics. So predictable.

Who ARE you??

I have said before that Ann Coulter is like Brillo to me.

It's amazing how alike you and she are, anonymous person.

Then anonymous will make inane comments and pretend to have something clever to say while complaining about how dull and predictable all of this is yet sticking around nevertheless because he/she has nothing going in his/her miserable life.

The worst part of the Ann Coulter story is that she actually has a following. Clearly, something has happened in this currently very conservative atmosphere that makes it okay for someone like Coulter to say the things she does and get away with it.

At first, when she came on the scene, she had something to say. Some of it made sense. I read one of her books, and it seemed very gossipy (it may have been about Hilary Clinton).
Now however, her presence on FOX news with Rush Limbaugh, etc., is not amusing or witty, just terribly abrasive (good old Rush is not racking up any points for FOX either, in my opinion).

Her statements about the Jews is so "in your face" and it was a huge mistake on her part. I think John Paul the Great was more on track, in this regard.

Something has happened in this very conservative atmosphere that allows someone like Ann to say the things she says...Bill Maher comes to mind,(Hilary Clinton comes to mind) and others on MSNBC. It's a counter attack mentality that does the conservative side no justice, but rather puts them in the mindset of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em". I don't agree with that, and take no joy in what has happened in the conservative media.

I am a "he" thank you and for the record, I also detest Ann Coulter. She just wants her outrageous sound bite to be broadcast over and over in an attempt to sell more books. She thinks she is saying provocative, shocking stuff, but she is so predictable (like Margaret and Ray and Pat) that nothing she says is insulting or cause for alarm anymore. It just confirms her quest for the mighty American dollar to sell more and everyone is on to her now. I hope her book sales slide into obscurity and these cable producers stop putting her on air. Most people I know change the channel as soon as her horse face appears on air.

Ann Coulter says the same thing Michael Riley says (and every other minister and Rabbi for that matter).

The difference is Riley says it more politely.

Same meaning, different words.

I used to like Ann but she is becoming quite abrasive like a woman who can't get a date to the prom.We should worry more about Muslims who would rather see Jews murdered and not converted.

Ann was right. But even if she would have been wrong, the attacks on her are childish and brutish.

She is so far from being right she's left.

Now I've seen everything. Can you imagine someone defending Ann Coulter by accusing her attackers of being Ann Coulter?

Absurd isn't strong enough a word to describe this.
