Stars and dreams for a cure

Occasionally, I do more than plug myself in these blogs.
For instance, let me tell you about a benefit happening Monday, Oct. 29, at Branches, 123 Monmouth Road, Long Branch.
A woman named Maria Frangella Cicillini, who with her husband owns the Rigoletto Trattoria in Middletown, is a colon cancer survivor. She has been cancer-free since 1995, and in the last few years has begun a foundation to raise money for cancer research at Sloan-Kettering.
One of those efforts is coming Monday from 6-11 p.m. The third annual event at Branches includes a cocktail hour, open bar, a three-course dinner, live entertainment, gift auction, silent auction and a raffle. All of this for a tax-deductible $150. Reservations are still being accepted. For more information, call Maria at 732-492-2916 and visit her Web site at http://www.mfffccr.org/

If I can offer a suggestion, I think you should plug a charity on this blog site every month. What day of the month were you and Sue married? The 15th? If so, plug a new charity on the 15th of each month.

Isn't it amazing the way people (the two anonymi here) can take a rational, helpful plug for a worthy and meaningful event and use it to spew such venom? What children.

Again he makes no sense. However, this does:

Anonymous' favorite charity, The I-Haven't-Got-Time-For-The-Teachings-of-a-Bloody-Socialist-Like-Jesus League.

Ray, why all that hostility dude? Peace out. We are all praying for you-especially Margaret. You have just confirmed what a religious bigot you really are.

It shouldn't bother you if people do pray for you, Ray. According to you, we're just wasting out time. According to those of us, well...:)

That's the beauty of blogging; we can all agree to disagree.

In keeping with the blog strand, keep plugging charities, Mr. Riley. There's one charity event that just passed, for a guy who worked to help those during 9/11, and soonafter became sick and has big medical bills and will be losing his house...

Sometimes we're so busy with our own lives we don't get to hear about the needs of others around us. Keep up the good work, and let us know, so maybe we can help out.
